We are starting a new week and month simultaneously today, so what better time for a brand new Monday Musings? I am very happy to say that I’m (FINALLY) on the mend from this flu, thank goodness. So luckily, this post won’t be fever-fueled. However, as you continue to read this, you may or may not wish it were.
Last month, I helped you create one epic break up playlist. My latest peek into the inner workings of my mind comes courtesy of a recent 5 Finds 4 Friday post. I shared a moment from the WeTV reality series Braxton Family Values that I think about. A lot. Like, SERIOUSLY, a lot. Whether I’m in the shower, or washing dishes, or settling down to sleep. It pops into my head, and I cannot be sated until I look it up on YouTube. And there a plenty more TV moments I can’t stop thinking about. Are you the same way? Check out my Top 5 List, and tell me all about yours. Let’s get started, shall we?
Deelishus Musically Smacks Down Krazy, Mortal Kombat-style
Every time Krazy opened her mouth to sing on the second season on the VH1 Reality series, Flavor of Love, I cringed. A “bless her heart for trying” sort of cringe, but a cringe nonetheless. You have to admire her chutzpah, though. After having my ass handed to me musically like that, I would’ve hidden under the table, for say, the rest of my life.
Kanye West Lets Us Know How He REALLY Feels
It’s the look on Mike Myers face that I can’t stop thinking about. That double take slays me dead each and every SINGLE SOLITARY time. Of course, Kanye wasn’t exactly incorrect in his declaration. At least a lot of us felt that way at the time (and still do). But it was the first time Kanye West went H.A.M. on our television sets, and it won’t be the last.
Beyoncé’s 2011 VMA Performance (and our first glimpse of Blue Ivy)
Okay, confession time: I wasn’t the Beyoncé stan I am now prior to 2010. However, I couldn’t be happier to jump on that blessed bandwagon at that time, because this was my first Bey freak out. I was super excited that she was singing Love on Top (which was the first Beyoncé song I was obsessed with) and of course, the reveal at the end? Epic!!!
Diana Ross & Arsenio, Sitting in a Tree…
I was around 13 or 14 years old when I saw this episode of The Arsenio Hall show live. And I remember distinctly going, “What the fuuuuuuck?!?!?” during this moment. Quietly, because I was a teenager and Mizz Lennid (aka Mum) didn’t play that. As an adult, I would often tell people about this memory and NO ONE believed me. For a while, I was partially convinced I imagined the whole thing. Which made me wonder about the state of my mind, if I’m conjuring up random moments such as this. It’s one of the many reasons I love YouTube. Because it validates the wild and crazy things I recall.
Talk Racist Smack? Get Smacked Down
This is perhaps the most modern moment on the list. It was a moment that caught my attention via Twitter, and I distinctly remember my sister and I watching the entire season of The Real World On Demand JUST to see what lead up to this moment. I am not a person who enjoys watching fights, but even the pacifist in me got a small sense of satisfaction watching this moment.
