Despite my Irish last name, it feels weird to bring up the holiday. But I believe we could use every little bit of festivity we can hold on to these days, so Happy St. Patrick’s Day, y’all! It’s time for an all new 5 Finds 4 Friday. A crazy week almost prevented this post from being shared, but perhaps I do have the luck of the Irish.
So much has happened this week. If you were looking for the perfect wedding gift for Miley Cyrus and Not Thor, don’t bother. But RuPaul probably has a registry out there somewhere. Crate and Barrell, perhaps? The mystery of what “Uncle” Joe Biden thought about last year’s Joe/Barack memes has finally been revealed. Chloe X Halle dropped new music yesterday just for us to vibe out this weekend to. And last but not least, Dave Chappelle is pulling no punches in the trailer to his one of many Netflix comedy specials.
#Fail (Or Is It?)
Ghost in the Shell tried to invite others to join them in a viral campaign for the film. Yeah… It didn’t go so well! But hilarity ensued! This makes me question whether or not this is actually a fail. Sure, it is a definite fail for Paramount Pictures. I mean, there are several Ls headed their way. But there was most certainly a win, for people of color and all of us who are sick and tired of Hollywood feeding us whitewashed versions of our heroes. Read more about it on Next Shark.
A Spotlight on Black Women of the Film “Get Out”
I haven’t seen Get Out yet (::inserts “Help Me I’m Poor” gif::) but because I’ve been pouring through think pieces about the film, I know the plot twist at the end. Despite having the film 75% spoiled, I’m still quite eager to see it. But in the conversations surrounding Get Out, I was curious about something. Where are the articles about the black women in the film? Where’s the dialogue about black women? Sometimes when you ask the questions, the Universe provides the answers. Check out this beautifully written analysis on The Huffington Post.
And While We Are On the Subject of Asking Questions…
Dear South Korea, how? Asking for a country https://t.co/vgv4boQDmd

Now, I could start this by saying something indecent about Christopher, seeing as I’ve watched every season of Oz and well, yeah…. Full frontal at least 10 times. I’ve seen it all. Many, many times. But seeing as he is OFFICIALLY my big sister’s bae, I will refrain. Instead I will express appreciation for him asking the question on most of the world’s minds. Thank you Mr. Meloni. For this and for looking incredible naked. Dammit!
Awful News Is Awful
I was in my feelings when I learned that ModCloth, an online store that actually does the right thing when it comes to plus size fashion, is being acquired by Jet. This is horrible news, because as of last year, Jet was bought by Walmart. Which means that the fun and quirky and super progressive ModCloth is now under the umbrella of soul-sucking, treat their employees like crap, cut costs to save a penny Walmart! I Guess I DO Deserve a Break Today…
I have been definitely wanting to munch on some McNuggets for a good minute! This tweet, which shook the world Wednesday evening, has since been deleted and attributed to McDonald’s Twitter account being compromised, but I still enjoy the brief moments when I thought someone was actually telling the Diminutive-Hands Dorito Dictator about himself. Ba da ba ba ba… I’m lovin’ it. Read all about it on Buzzfeed.
